Recently, we were asked to create a custom cap for a large home in New Hampshire. The house was gorgeous, but it had a serious vulnerability: the wide, flat chimney captured an excess of rainwater and snowmelt, leading to troublesome water entry issues.
Our team designed and fabricated a giant copper cap engineered specifically to match the footprint of the masonry, as well as the home’s overall appearance. The cap was so big, it took six of our crew members to load it into the truck and a massive crane to lift it in place on the roof.
Once secured, the giant cap looked like it had always been there. It blended seamlessly with the rest of the structure, turning a major vulnerability into a beautiful, functional architectural feature.
